At Paperbacknote, we make unique up-cycled stationery and paper goods from recycled books. Our products are locally made in Vancouver and reflect our love of books as tangible, physical objects. We take great care to upcycle every part of the original book into beautiful handmade products in order to appreciate old books in new ways.
Our featured product, the Paperbacknote notebook, is handcrafted using the original cover from a recycled book. The original paperback book cover is rebound into a new notebook suitable for documenting personal stories through journaling, sketching or note-taking. Our rebinding technique preserves the original book's spine and thickness, so the notebook remains "undercover" until it is opened to reveal the new pages inside. The Paperbacknote notebook is the perfect gift for a writer, note taker, list maker, or anyone who wants to keep their notes under cover.
Our Paperbacknote coaster sets repurpose the original pages from recycled books, creating a new use. The original binding of the paperback book is preserved to keep the pages intact, allowing the coaster to be reused multiple times as pages can be torn away per use, or left to age over time and leave the imprint of a watermark. The Paperbacknote coaster is a great conversation starter at any party where guests can grab a coaster and recite a snippet of a favourite passage or quote.
With the portion of the original book pages remaining from the production of coasters, we produce hand-folded Paperbacknote mobile ornaments to complete the upcycling process. These three-dimensional sculptures represent an appreciation and love for old books, and hang beautifully in front of a window or under a desk lamp as a piece of book art.
